it does indeed work. i just upgraded using those drivers, and i can now read my 8GB SDHC card.
now only if we could boot off the SD card slot. that would be yummy. |

Anyone think this Patriot 16GB SDHC might work in my P1610's SD slot? I installed the above Ricoh SDHC update. Also, would the transfer speed be fast enough to watch a ripped video stored on this SDHC? |

Anyone tried with 16GB cards? If 8 works, I'm pretty sure it will too, just curious. Saw some for $79.99, got me so tempted heh. |

Thanks for the driver! The link seems to be bad for the exe, but the zip is good.
My screen shot looked before like your jpg and now looks like your new jpg, so I believe it's functionally the same driver. My laptop is an Inspiron 9400.
I have verified that my old SD cards still work. I'll be checking against an 8GB SDHC when it arrives. |

Yes, the SD and memory stick drivers are identical, the xD card driver fixes some sort of bug where inserting the card sometimes fails to detect the filesystem, or shows an empty directory or something (I've forgotten exactly). It was released a while back.

FYI, 16GB SDHC cards work great in here as well. I just got my 16GB AData and it recognized it right away. I'm planning on using it to watch movies when I'm traveling. The 4GB will be used for backups when I am on the road.
As a side note, I've discovered the easiest way to get movies onto my P1610 is to rip them on my wife's MacBook using Handbrake and then copy then to the SDHC card. Besides saving space on my SSD drive, it is also a lot faster to copy them to the SDHC card than it was to copy them across the network.

I was about to ask if anyone had updated their 1510, but figured if it had not been asked yet then I should be the test subject. I am pleased to inform all that it works fine on my 1510d and I can now explore and use the 4 & 8 gb micro sd cards I have for my cell phones with an adapter. My 4gb sd card for my camera reads also. The older under 1gb sd card I have still reads. All is well in fujitsu P land. |

Thanks a lot for this update. It works for me on a P1510D as well. Just one small problem. When you run the .exe, it makes a Ricoh SD controller folder with the drivers in it. I got the new hardware thing, but it still would not see my 4 gig SDHC card until I ran the update driver app in the device manager under the Ricoh SD host controller. I pointed it to the SD subfolder in there and it then found new drivers and required a reboot. After the reboot there was joy! My Fujitsu now reads and writes to SDHC cards. For the newer folks on this board, in case you run the .exe and have no luck, try this method. It should work then.

Thanks, folks. My P1610 is now SDHC capable! I also had to point to the driver from Device Manager and reboot as Ken Wolf described above. For others who need to do the same, the full address of the SD subfolder is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\ricohmemory_xp\SD. |

With a Class 4 Sandisk SDHC card coming out soon, I'm having fantasies of having a 32GB SSD drive with a 32GB SDHC for additional storage space. I doubt 64GB SSD drives in PATA 1/8" form factor will ever be available in a reasonable cost. |

I'm heading in the same direction. SDHC currently offers a more practical solution given the high price and scarcity of larger SSD drives. Can anyone comment on SD read/write speed in everyday use -- is it sufficient or does it create a bottleneck? |

I haven't noticed any bottlenecks from the SDHC drives. I've primarily used it for playing movies (h.264 1500kbps) and backups but I haven't noticed any choppyness or stuttering. |

Hi nomo, I have tried to update the drivers by pointing to the location from device manager...but prompts me that I already have the best driver installed.....Any pointers?. Thanks and best regards... |

Pete: In Device Manager, right-click on the sd reader, select Properties, and go to the "Driver" tab. What is the driver date and version? |

I believe I downloaded the E1007029 SD driver posted above onto a P1610 running XP Tablet. After running the downloaded .exe, I opened Device Manager and pointed to the driver in my C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\ricohmemory_xp\SD folder. Once the driver was enabled, the card reader appeared in Device Manager under the category "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" with the name "Ricoh SD Host Controller." My driver version is 6.2.0.8 dated 12/20/06.
Is this the process you used? |

Perhaps the problem is the way you're updating. If you "point" the update by selecting a directory, then the driver selection is accepted or rejected by all sort of mysterious means.
The best approach is to click "Let me select the best driver for this device", then when the driver choice window pops up, click "Have disk". Then navigate to the directory with the new driver and select the INF file. Click OK and the driver will install.
With this method, you may get a message indicating that Windows can't verify whether the driver is compatible for some devices and/or drivers, also you might see a driver signing issue. If you're confident you chose the right one, just continue through them.
